Community Advocacy and Planning Experience
Lawrence Williams has worked with many private sector clients, community development corporations, local business owners and also churches throughout his career. He began helping churches realize their dreams. Later his interest in community development enabled him to gain much experience in the administration of community development corporations. Mr. Williams was instrumental in helping newly formed community development administrators develop their skills to build their first homes.
The Southside Community Development Corporation homes along Bainbrige and Porter Streets. The Highland Park Community Development Corporation homes along First and Third Streets and The North Side Neighborhood Housing Services homes along North Avenue . He is responsible for The Jackson Center Office Building at 2nd and Marshall Streets and the Seventh Day Adventist Church at Roanoke and Midlothian Turnpike to name just a few community based and private sector projects.
Mr.Williams can get it done.

City Government Experience
Lawrence Williams has served on several boards and commissions with the City of Richmond. Daily interactions with City administrators representing public and private sector clients gives Williams a unique insight of how things actually get done at city hall.
Accurate Budgets, Good Zoning, Construction Permits and the length of Permit Review,
( City hall red tape ) and how to improve these issues are all concerns of Williams.
For five years Williams was a committee member of a 9 persons steering committee the Richmond Tomorrow Strategic Planning Efforts. During this time the city was throughly accessed and recommendations for all levels of city bureaucracy were reviewed. Much insight on how the city is actually run was gained. Some of the progress then under city manager Robert Bobb has brought us to this point in our city development.
The present politicians now take credit for this early foundation laid well before them. Mr.Williams was there.

Master Planning Experience
Lawrence Williams has been involved in master planning projects for many years in Richmond and other Cities. He has also done public housing renovations in Creighton Court and feasibility studies for developers in our region. He has seen his visions occur over time with hard work focus and determination. Early planning studies for the City of Richmond include the early Jackson Place Master Plan and the and Hull Street master plan done in joint venture with national planning firms. Mr. Williams is on the steering committee appointed by the planning commission for the present Downtown Master Plan. Additional studies include a new park below the I-95 Shockoe Valley bridge similar to Byrd Park with water retention basin lakes. The park would give value to adjacent hilltops. Such gateway iniatives now in concept stage illustrate how we as citizens should begin extending the downtown master plan community process into the neighborhoods.
