Lawrence Ellis Williams

Together We Can Make
Richmond
"The  Most Livable
City In America"
Introduction

Lawrence Williams, like you, wants a new temperament and professionalism in Richmond
City government.  The bio of Lawrence Williams reflects  his years of promoting community based and business financed projects in Richmond. His ability to work with community groups and community development corporations is unmatched.

Endorsed by the City Employees Union in past elections, Mr. Williams has the hearts of  City employees. They too want to move forward and serve the citizens of Richmond under experienced leadership.

Active in City politics under Mayors Walter Kenny, Tim Kaine and the present Council. Mr. Williams has actually done many of the projects that present politicians take credit for.

" Ability Plus ". Not only political experience. The plus represents his technical experience in understanding the true budget cost and construction appropriateness of proposed projects.
Williams has the ability to get schools and new communities around them built.
Working closely with budgets under a previous City Manager, Robert Bobb, for 5 years with The Richmond Tomorrow Strategic Planning Initiatives, Mr. Williams understands all segments of City bureaucracy. His training also allows him to look at it with a fresh new professional generation perspective.

Let no one deceive you, three quarters of the income that runs our City comes from both rich and poor neighborhoods. Only 12% goes to City Hall and the administrative activities there.  A five  million savings here is just political talk.

The Courts, Police and Schools absorb 75% of your tax dollars. Your income and resources are spent on issues in neighborhoods that pay less taxes and use large amounts of inefficient resources. Williams can and  will honestly address these issues.  That is why we must make all neighborhoods evenly desirable, fairly tax productive and integrated if we are to be the most Livable City in America. This Campaign is about bringing all the Citizens together.
 The Solution is Strong Neighborhoods.

Mr Williams has the experience to understand the true issues that face our City and to tell you the truth. We can believe that the inefficiency is in City Hall and more police and teacher will move our city forward. However the truth is the real income that moves this city forward comes from our neighborhoods. If we want to move , our schools forward our neighborhoods must be strong enough to support them economically with good jobs and families. Citizens in each community must have strategic focused commitment.

Together we must define the strategic planning in our neighborhoods with
Middle Schools that create a strong sense of pride, place and community. Schools run by neighborhood parents. Schools that help to define, create and maintain desirable neighborhoods. And Middle Schools that focus on community and developing good citizenship.

Williams has the experience to move all of Richmond Forward.
